Description
The CERTUSS E6M electric steam generator range produces 8 to 97 kg/h of steam from a unit compact enough to install inside a production area or work space — no flue, no gas train, no fuel storage, no plant room required. It is the smallest CERTUSS range and the one to specify for laboratories, sterilisers and small process duties. Techmatic Controls is the CERTUSS distributor in Singapore and supplies the range as a turnkey project.
Output and pressure
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Steam output | 8 – 97 kg/h |
| Heat output | 6 – 72 kW |
| Electrical connected load | 6.8 – 73.8 kW |
| Operating pressure | 3.5 – 11 bar |
| Max. permissible overpressure | 6 / 10 / 12 bar |
| Dimensions (H / W / D) | 1,850 / 880 / 680 mm |
True modulation at small output
Steam output is controlled by semi-conductor contactors, which gives real modulation rather than simple on-off switching. That is unusual at this size and it is the reason the E6M range holds pressure steadily on a varying load instead of hunting around the setpoint. If you have run a small steam supply that swings every time an autoclave or a jacketed vessel calls, this is the difference you will notice first.
Built for installation in the work area
The range is designed to be installed within production facilities and work areas rather than banished to a separate plant room. With no combustion there is no flue penetration to arrange, no combustion air, no gas train and no hazard zoning — so the generator can sit close to the point of use, which also shortens the steam main and reduces the losses in it.
Stainless steel construction and clean steam
The feed water tank, feed water pump and steam chamber are stainless steel, reached through front enclosure doors so servicing is done from the front without pulling the unit out.
A full stainless steel construction is available for clean steam duties built to HTM 2031. That is the specification to discuss if your steam contacts product, packaging or instruments — sterilisers, pharmaceutical and biotechnology processes, and healthcare applications where steam purity is part of the validation rather than an afterthought.
Optional water treatment package
A rear package assembly is available with water softener and blowdown vessel, pre-piped, pre-wired and factory tested. Ordering it with the generator is usually the better route than assembling the same items on site: it arrives as a tested assembly, it removes a set of site joints, and feedwater quality stops being the thing everyone assumes someone else specified. Poor feedwater is the most common cause of early trouble on small steam plant.
Monitoring
Data can be transferred to a BMS through volt-free contacts for remote monitoring, so a small generator installed away from the maintenance office is still visible.
E6M or E10MX?
The two electric ranges sit next to each other, and the choice is mostly about output and duty:
- Choose the E6M – E72M up to 97 kg/h, for laboratory, steriliser and small process duties, where the unit will live in the work area, and where clean steam to HTM 2031 is required.
- Choose the E10MX – E320MX from around 100 kg/h up to 320 kg/h, where output is larger and 72-hour unattended operation matters.
Applications
- Laboratories, research facilities and pilot plants
- Sterilisation, autoclaves and central sterile services
- Pharmaceutical and biotechnology production, including clean steam duties
- Healthcare facilities
- Small food and beverage processing
- Humidification and small-scale process heating
- Premises with no flue route, or where a plant room is not available
Compliance and registration in Singapore
An electric steam generator is still a pressure vessel. In Singapore it must be registered with the Ministry of Manpower and examined by an Authorised Examiner, with a Certificate of Fitness in place before it is operated and re-examination at the required intervals thereafter — the absence of combustion does not change that. The manufacturer’s design, material and test documentation required for the submission is supplied with the unit.
Sizing and site survey
Steam generators are not sold from a catalogue. The right size depends on your actual steam load and how it varies through the day — not on the rating of the unit being replaced, which is why so many existing installations are oversized. An oversized unit cycles and wastes energy. So before we quote, we size the generator against your load and survey the site.
To size the unit we need:
- Steam demand — peak, average, and how it varies across the shift or batch
- Required steam pressure at the point of use
- Whether clean steam is required, and to what standard
- Available electrical supply capacity, and spare capacity in the incoming board
- Operating pattern — continuous, single shift, or campaign production
- Feedwater supply and quality, and whether condensate is returned
The site survey covers:
- Space, access route and floor loading for the unit
- Electrical supply, incoming board capacity and cable route
- Water treatment, feedwater and blowdown arrangements
- Steam distribution from the generator to the point of use
- Ventilation and heat rejection in the space
Because these units are often installed inside a working area rather than a plant room, the survey also looks at noise, heat gain and access for the periodic examination — three things that are easy to overlook at order stage and awkward to fix afterwards.
How we supply it
Boilers are supplied as turnkey projects — sizing, supply, installation, commissioning, in-service optimisation & MOM Approvals— with servicing, upgrades and maintenance afterwards.
Techmatic has an in-house Singapore Certified Energy Manager and carries out boiler efficiency monitoring, so the performance of the installed plant can be measured rather than assumed. Our processes are aligned to ISO 50001.
Related equipment
Techmatic also supplies the CERTUSS E10MX to E320MX electric range for 10 to 320 kg/h, the gas and oil fired Junior TC for 80 to 400 kg/h, the Universal TC for 500 to 2,000 kg/h and the UMX for 1,500 to 2,000 kg/h. We also supply the steam system around the generator — Miyawaki steam traps, pressure reducing valves, separators, strainers and flow instrumentation — and carry out steam trap surveys.
Arrange a sizing review and site survey
Talk to us before you fix a generator size or a budget figure. We will size the CERTUSS E6M to E72M range against your steam load, confirm whether clean steam construction is needed, check your electrical supply, survey the site for installation, and quote the installed scope.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I choose an electric or a fuel-fired steam generator?
Electric suits small to medium loads, intermittent duties, sites with no flue route available, and clean or sensitive environments — laboratories, cleanrooms, upper floors and tenanted units. It removes the flue, gas train, combustion air and fuel storage from the installation entirely.
Gas or oil fired suits larger continuous loads, where fuel cost per kilogram of steam usually favours combustion, and where a flue and gas supply already exist. On carbon, electrification moves emissions from your site to the grid; whether that reduces total emissions depends on the carbon intensity of your supply, so it is a calculation rather than an assumption.
Does a steam boiler need MOM registration and a Certificate of Fitness in Singapore?
Yes. In Singapore a steam boiler is a pressure vessel under the Workplace Safety and Health framework. It must be registered with the Ministry of Manpower and examined by an Authorised Examiner, with a Certificate of Fitness in place before it is operated, and re-examination at the required intervals thereafter.
This applies to electric steam generators too — the absence of combustion makes no difference to the requirement. The manufacturer’s design, material and test documentation needed for the submission is supplied with the boiler, and we handle MOM approvals as part of our turnkey scope.
How do you size a steam boiler, and what information do you need?
Sizing is done against your measured steam load, not against the nameplate of the boiler being replaced. Working from the old rating is the most common cause of oversizing, and an oversized boiler cycles, wastes fuel and wears its burner.
To size a unit we need your steam demand (peak, average, and how it varies across the shift or batch), the steam pressure required at the point of use, the fuel or electrical supply available on site, your operating pattern, and your feedwater supply and whether condensate is returned. We then survey the site before quoting
What feedwater treatment does a steam generator need?
Feedwater quality is the single most common cause of early trouble on small steam plant, and it is the item most often left to someone else to specify. Water treatment, feedwater and blowdown arrangements are part of every survey we carry out.
Packaged water treatment assemblies with softener and blowdown vessel are available pre-piped, pre-wired and factory tested on some ranges. Ordering that with the generator is usually better than assembling the same items on site: it arrives tested, and it removes a set of site joints.
