Description
The CERTUSS E10MX electric steam generator range produces 10 to 320 kg/h of steam with no combustion on site — no flue, no gas train, no fuel storage. Output is continuously adjustable across the whole range and full steam is available three to five minutes from start-up. Techmatic Controls is the CERTUSS distributor in Singapore and supplies the range as a turnkey project.

Continuously adjustable output
Output is adjustable from zero right through to full capacity rather than stepping between fixed stages. On a process whose steam demand rises and falls through the batch, that means the generator tracks the load instead of overshooting and venting, or cycling and recovering. It is the single biggest practical difference between an electric generator of this type and a fired boiler serving the same duty.
No flue, no gas train
Removing combustion removes a long list of installation items: flue route and termination, combustion air, gas train and pipework, fuel storage, and the clearances and hazard zoning that come with them. That is what makes electric generators the practical answer in places where a fired boiler is difficult or impossible to site — upper floors, tenanted industrial units, cleanrooms, laboratories, food production areas, and buildings where no flue penetration is available.
Fits through a standard doorway
The unit is under 800 mm wide, which is a deliberate design decision rather than a coincidence: it clears a standard door opening. For a retrofit into an existing plant room this matters more than any specification on the datasheet, because it decides whether the machine can be walked in or whether something has to come out of a wall first.
Pre-piped, pre-wired, ready to connect
Units arrive pre-piped and pre-wired with integrated feed water tanks. The delivered package is close to a working plant item, so installation is largely a matter of water, power and steam connections rather than assembling a system on site. A stainless steel version is available where the environment or the duty calls for it.
Control and unattended running
A single-view control gives operation from one screen with remote maintenance capability. The range is designed for fully automatic 72-hour operation, so a plant does not need a person attending the generator through the weekend. Remote visibility means a drift in performance is noticed rather than discovered at the next service.
Electric or fired? An honest comparison
Electric is not automatically the better choice, and we would rather say so before you buy than after:
- Electric suits small to medium loads, intermittent duties, sites with no flue route, clean or sensitive environments, and installations where the simplicity and speed of the fit-out is worth a lot.
- Gas or oil fired suits larger continuous loads, where fuel cost per kilogram of steam usually favours combustion, and where a flue and gas supply already exist.
On carbon, electrification moves the emissions from your site to the grid. Whether that reduces total CO2 depends on the carbon intensity of the electricity supplying it and on any generation of your own — it is a calculation, not an assumption. Singapore’s net-zero by 2050 target makes the direction of travel clear, but the number for your plant still has to be worked out. We can do that as part of the sizing review.
Applications
- Laboratories, research facilities and pilot plants
- Pharmaceutical and biotechnology production
- Food and beverage processing and central kitchens
- Sterilisation and autoclave supply
- Cleanrooms and controlled environments
- Upper-floor or tenanted premises with no flue route available
- Standby or supplementary steam alongside a fired boiler
Compliance and registration in Singapore
An electric steam generator is still a pressure vessel. In Singapore it must be registered with the Ministry of Manpower and examined by an Authorised Examiner, with a Certificate of Fitness in place before it is operated and re-examination at the required intervals thereafter — the absence of combustion does not change that. The manufacturer’s design, material and test documentation required for the submission is supplied with the unit.
Sizing and site survey
Steam generators are not sold from a catalogue. The right size depends on your actual steam load and how it varies through the day — not on the rating of the boiler being replaced, which is why so many existing installations are oversized. An oversized unit cycles and wastes energy. So before we quote, we size the generator against your load and survey the site.
To size the unit we need:
- Steam demand — peak, average, and how it varies across the shift or batch
- Required steam pressure at the point of use
- Available electrical supply capacity, and spare capacity in the incoming board
- Operating pattern — continuous, single shift, or campaign production
- Feedwater supply and whether condensate is returned
The site survey covers:
- Space, access route and floor or mezzanine loading for the unit
- Electrical supply, incoming board capacity and cable route
- Water treatment, feedwater and blowdown arrangements
- Steam distribution from the generator to the point of use
- Ventilation and heat rejection in the plant room
Electrical capacity is the item that most often decides the outcome on an electric installation. At the top of the range the connected load is 240.75 kW, and an incoming supply that cannot carry it turns a straightforward equipment purchase into a substation conversation. We check it before you commit.
How we supply it
Boilers are supplied as turnkey projects — sizing, supply, installation, commissioning, in-service optimisation & MOM Approvals— with servicing, upgrades and maintenance afterwards.
Techmatic has an in-house Singapore Certified Energy Manager and carries out boiler efficiency monitoring, so the performance of the installed plant can be measured rather than assumed. Our processes are aligned to ISO 50001.
Related equipment
Techmatic also supplies the CERTUSS E6M to E72M electric range for 8 to 97 kg/h, the gas and oil fired Junior TC for 80 to 400 kg/h, the Universal TC for 500 to 2,000 kg/h and the UMX for 1,500 to 2,000 kg/h. We also supply the steam system around the generator — Miyawaki steam traps, pressure reducing valves, separators, strainers and flow instrumentation — and carry out steam trap surveys.
Arrange a sizing review and site survey
Talk to us before you fix a generator size or a budget figure. We will size the CERTUSS E10MX to E320MX range against your steam load, check your electrical supply, survey the site for installation, and quote the installed scope.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I choose an electric or a fuel-fired steam generator?
Electric suits small to medium loads, intermittent duties, sites with no flue route available, and clean or sensitive environments — laboratories, cleanrooms, upper floors and tenanted units. It removes the flue, gas train, combustion air and fuel storage from the installation entirely.
Gas or oil fired suits larger continuous loads, where fuel cost per kilogram of steam usually favours combustion, and where a flue and gas supply already exist. On carbon, electrification moves emissions from your site to the grid; whether that reduces total emissions depends on the carbon intensity of your supply, so it is a calculation rather than an assumption.
Does a steam boiler need MOM registration and a Certificate of Fitness in Singapore?
Yes. In Singapore a steam boiler is a pressure vessel under the Workplace Safety and Health framework. It must be registered with the Ministry of Manpower and examined by an Authorised Examiner, with a Certificate of Fitness in place before it is operated, and re-examination at the required intervals thereafter.
This applies to electric steam generators too — the absence of combustion makes no difference to the requirement. The manufacturer’s design, material and test documentation needed for the submission is supplied with the boiler, and we handle MOM approvals as part of our turnkey scope.
How do you size a steam boiler, and what information do you need?
Sizing is done against your measured steam load, not against the nameplate of the boiler being replaced. Working from the old rating is the most common cause of oversizing, and an oversized boiler cycles, wastes fuel and wears its burner.
To size a unit we need your steam demand (peak, average, and how it varies across the shift or batch), the steam pressure required at the point of use, the fuel or electrical supply available on site, your operating pattern, and your feedwater supply and whether condensate is returned. We then survey the site before quoting.
What feedwater treatment does a steam generator need?
Feedwater quality is the single most common cause of early trouble on small steam plant, and it is the item most often left to someone else to specify. Water treatment, feedwater and blowdown arrangements are part of every survey we carry out.
Packaged water treatment assemblies with softener and blowdown vessel are available pre-piped, pre-wired and factory tested on some ranges. Ordering that with the generator is usually better than assembling the same items on site: it arrives tested, and it removes a set of site joints.
