BROEN-LAB Laboratory Gas Pressure Regulators

    Description

BROEN-LAB laboratory gas regulators reduce and hold the outlet pressure of gases piped to a laboratory bench, so the gas reaching an instrument, burner or reactor stays at the pressure the method calls for regardless of what the cylinder or house line is doing upstream. Techmatic Controls supplies the BROEN-LAB range in Singapore for research and QC laboratories, pharmaceutical and biotech facilities, teaching laboratories and process plant laboratories.

    Three gas purity grades

The range is split by gas purity, because the wetted materials and internal finish that suit shop-air or nitrogen are not the same as those needed for carrier gases feeding a GC or GC-MS.

    • Technical gases 2.0 — general laboratory service gases. Supplied with a plastic handle and fixed nozzle, as a single regulator or as a twin unit with two valves set at 180 degrees.
    • High purity gases 5.0 (99.999 per cent) — fitted with a shut-off valve and flow regulation, rated to a maximum pressure of 10 bar. The usual specification for analytical instrument carrier and fuel gases.
    • High purity gases 6.0 (99.9999 per cent) — fitted with a flow valve and an outlet pressure range of 0 to 10 bar, for trace-level analysis and detectors sensitive to contamination.

    Mounting options

Each purity grade is available in the mounting arrangements a laboratory actually needs, so the regulator can sit where the service enters the room rather than forcing the pipework to suit the fitting:

    • Bench mounted — regulator mounted directly on the worktop or bench upstand, at the point of use.
    • Wall mounted — for services run along the wall, and for benches kept clear of fittings.
    • Suspended mounted — for island benches and service spines fed from above, available on the 5.0 and 6.0 ranges.

    Available variants

Nine standard variants are available across the three purity grades:

    Gas grade Mounting Configuration
Technical gases 2.0 Bench Single regulator, plastic handle, fixed nozzle
Bench Twin, two valves at 180°, plastic handle, fixed nozzle
Wall Single regulator, plastic handle, fixed nozzle
High purity gases 5.0 Bench Shut-off valve and flow regulation, max. 10 bar
Wall Shut-off valve and flow regulation, max. 10 bar
Suspended Shut-off valve and flow regulation, max. 10 bar
High purity gases 6.0 Bench Flow valve, outlet pressure 0–10 bar
Wall Flow valve, outlet pressure 0–10 bar
Suspended Flow valve, outlet pressure 0–10 bar

Item numbers for each variant are available on request. Contact us with the gas, the required outlet pressure and the mounting position and we will confirm the part number.

    Identification and system compatibility

The regulators use the BROEN-LAB colour coding system shared across the company’s taps and valves, so gas, water and vacuum outlets on the same bench can be told apart at a glance — worth having where several service gases land on one spine. They also work with the BROEN-LAB UniFlex connection and quick release systems, allowing a gas type or an accessory to be changed without reworking the pipework.

    Selecting a laboratory gas regulator

Specify the gas and its purity grade first, then the inlet pressure available at the bench, the outlet pressure the instrument or burner requires, and the mounting position. Where an instrument needs a set flow rather than a set pressure, note that the 5.0 and 6.0 ranges include flow regulation as part of the fitting. Send us your gas schedule or bench layout and we will mark up the regulators required for each service position.

Technical support and supply in Singapore

Techmatic Controls has supplied industrial and laboratory fluid handling equipment in Singapore since 1989. We support the BROEN-LAB range with product selection, supply and aftercare, working alongside laboratory furniture contractors, M&E consultants and end users from design stage through to handover.
